What is Japanese Traditional Bridal Procession?

When you hear the phrase "Japanese Traditional Bridal Procession," what comes to mind?
Many people probably picture a procession centered around a bride dressed in a white kimono. As you might have imagined, Japanese Traditional Bridal Procession is simply a part of a wedding ceremony where the bride travels in a procession to the groom's house.

In Edo period, weddings were often held at the groom's home rather than in modern wedding halls. Princess Kazunomiya, who married the 14th Shogun Tokugawa Iemochi, traveled approximately 530 km over a period of about a month. 530 km is roughly the distance from Kyoto to Ibaraki. This shows just how much determination the bride had to make. This historic Japanese Traditional Bridal Procession will be recreated at UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE. You're sure to be captivated by the sight of the beautiful bride parading against the backdrop of Edo-period scenery.
