What is Ukiyo Bunbun?

UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE will be reopening on March 28th, marking the first phase of its renovation.
The concept behind the renovation is "To wander into Kyoto in Edo period."
Accordingly, our website has also been completely revamped.

As one of our new initiatives, we will be launching a web magazine called "EIGAMURA-UKIYO BUNBUN".
For this memorable first post, I'll introduce the origin of the term "Ukiyo Bunbun."

"Ukiyo Bunbun" is an original neologism not found in dictionaries. "Ukiyo" refers to the world in which people lived Edo period, a world where human emotions and refined tastes thrived. "Fumi" refers to "words" that express thoughts and events (not spoken words, but written words that express feelings and emotions). By combining it with "Bunbun," we added a playful and rhythmic feel.
In other words, "Ukiyo Bunbun" means "a stylish piece of reading material that evokes the atmosphere of Edo period."
Just looking at these words, doesn't it have a sound that makes you want to say it out loud?
In the upcoming web magazine "Ukiyo Bunbun," we will convey the atmosphere of Edo while also delivering new stories and ways to enjoy the newly renovated UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE from a behind-the-scenes perspective.

Please look forward to it!
