It is said that during the Heian period, countless Yokai paraded through the streets of Kyoto at night in the “Night Parade of One Hundred Demons,”
is coming to life once again this year at UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE!
This year, UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE ’s “Hyakki Yako” is even more spectacular!
In addition to the unique Yokai, dazzling dancers will also take the stage, parading through the venue to liven up the atmosphere.
Nurarihyon, Amabie, Ohaguro Bettari, Mikoshi Nyudo, Hyosube, Yako-doji…
Yokai parading through the streets of Edo—scary, fun, and somehow cute—
a special “Yokai” parade that can only be seen right here in the world!
The choreography is by TERUPOP, who has performed in a variety of shows, including theme park shows and fashion shows,
and is currently active as a choreographer and staging director.

STORY
One day, in UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE 's warehouse, a film of the legendary Yokai Jidaigeki (period drama) 'Uzumasa Hyakki Yakou' that had been shelved long ago was found.
While the film is being shown in the projection room, Yokai from the movie, unleashed from their seal for the first time in decades, leap out of the screen and embark on a grand parade of demons, revealing themselves to the people.
Tonight, a film that has gained supernatural powers over many years will transform UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE into a world of Yokai

After the Hyakki Yagyo ends, there will be a greeting session with the Yokai.

- For those who wish to visit the village in their own costumes on weekdays when "KAIKAI YOKAI PARADE ~Hyakki no Utage~" is not being held.
- Those who will not be participating in "KAIKAI YOKAI PARADE ~Hyakki no Utage~" on the day of the event, but wish to come to the village in their own costumes.
- We regret that we cannot accept requests for costumes based on copyrighted characters, anime, or other licensed materials.
- Furthermore, we reserve the right to refuse any requests that violate our regulations or fall under any prohibited items.
- For security reasons, we regretfully cannot allow park admission in costumes that have not been registered with us or in full-face costumes.
- The application deadline is Friday at 12:00 PM, two weeks before your desired date of arrival in the village.
(However, the deadline for those wishing to visit the village by September 23rd (Wednesday, public holiday) is September 9th (Wednesday) at 12:00 PM.)

An entertainment show where you can enjoy watching the Hyakki Yako and dance along with the Yokai s during the finale.
The stage features a dynamic show that weaves together music, dance, and sword fighting.
Creators from various fields—including choreography, sword fighting, music, art, and costumes—have come together to deliver a one-of-a-kind live entertainment show that fuses Japanese Yokai culture with filmmaking techniques.
At the end, join the Yokai in the Hyakki Yako dance!

A lively dance party of Yokai and friends is coming to UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE! A participatory dance program featuring energetic Yokai onee-san, Yokai onii-san and UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE character Kachinta.
With "Yokai and people, let's enjoy this moment as one." as the theme, the choreography, focusing on clapping and arm movements, is simple and easy to imitate, making everyone a part of Yokai party.
The choreography is by TERUPOP, who has appeared in various shows such as theme park shows and fashion shows, and is currently active as a choreographer/staging director. Turn yourself into a Yokai with simple addictive choreography!

This special day trip bus tour takes you to various locations in Kyoto associated with Yokai, guided by expert "Mononoke Guides" who will share historical facts and anecdotes about Yokai. Yokai legends are passed down throughout Japan. In modern times, they have become local events and are attracting attention from overseas, truly ushering in a "new age Yokai." At this summit, we will invite leading experts in Yokai research and practitioners of regional development to explore examples of amusing and bizarre "Yokai stories" and "Yokai activities" being undertaken in their respective regions. We will investigate the relationship between Yokai culture, which Japan should be proud of and pass on to future generations, and the future of Yokai x entertainment.

We will introduce the history and highlights of the event over the past two years.

Kyoto YOKAI Festival 2025
In fall 2024, UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE held its largest Yokai event ever, "Kyoto YOKAI Festival."
From the first day of the event, a wide range of people visited, including families, young people, and foreign tourists. On the holiday around Halloween, October 26th of the same year, the highest number of inbound visitors since the opening of UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE in 1975 was recorded. It also marked the highest number of visitors for the autumn season in the past eight years.
The following year, the "Kyoto YOKAI Festival 2025" was held as the "International Yokai Summit," inviting researchers and practitioners from Japan and abroad, including Professor Emeritus Kazuhiko Komatsu, a recipient of the 2025 Order of Culture, to conduct international academic and cultural exchange on the theme of Yokai culture. New projects were developed, such as the public recording of Yokai variety show hosted by general producer Junya Kono, and the event grew in both scale and content, recording a number of visitors that exceeded the previous year's figures.
In 2026, its third year, the event will evolve into a vibrant parade of demons incorporating dance, themed "Let's Dance!! And Be Terrified!" as the first autumn season event since the renewal.

Kyoto YOKAI Festival is now in its third year.
This year, with the relaunch of “UZUMASA KYOTO VILLAGE,” the Hyakki Yagyo seems to be transforming into the “Dancing Yokai Parade.” Even for me—having been involved with the Hyakki Yagyo in Kyoto for 20 years—this feels like a surprising turn of events, as we’re venturing into uncharted territory. Thanks to the energy of all the dancers, it might just turn out to be a spectacular show. I’m really looking forward to it!!
